JAMUL, Calif. (AP) - A veteran skydiver from Brazil has died after making a hard landing in San Diego County.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1MYFqGN) 30-year-old Andrei Penz died Friday afternoon after hitting the ground at Otay Lakes Road, not far from Skydive San Diego in Jamul.

A witness told authorities his parachute appeared to be partially collapsed on his descent to the ground.

The owner of Skydive San Diego said Penz, who worked as a contract instructor at the school, had made 1,500 jumps last year alone.
