ORONO, Maine (AP) - The University of Maine is hosting the inaugural Black Bear Marathon in Orono and Old Town.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday and will start and finish on the UMaine track at Harold Alfond Stadium. The event also includes a half marathon and 10 kilometer race. The full marathon course is a double loop of a 13.1-mile course that begins on campus and travels through Orono and Old Town and back through the university bike path.

University officials say the race will be a certified course that gives runners the opportunity to qualify for larger races.
