OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) - A 19-year-old Waukesha woman is the new Miss Wisconsin.

Miss New Berlin, Rosalie Elizabeth Smith, was crowned Miss Wisconsin 2015 Saturday night in Oshkosh. She was a first-time state pageant contestant.

Smith’s platform was called “Centered on Loving In Need.” That’s an acronym based on the name of her late brother Colin, and will focus on providing resources for people who are struggling with alcohol and drug addictions.

Smith tells Oshkosh Northwestern Media (https://oshko.sh/1dXsIwt ) she hopes to start a fund and be able to support those who cannot afford rehab facilities.

Smith is a 2014 graduate of Waukesha North High School. She will be a sophomore nursing student this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

She advances to the Miss America pageant on Sept. 13 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
