NEWTON, N.C. (AP) - Officials say two people have been killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Newton.

Multiple news outlets report a tractor-trailer traveling east on N.C. 10 near Jarrett Farm Road struck a car traveling in the opposite direction Sunday morning.

Police say the driver of the car, Tammy Norman Frady, and the passenger, Albert Lynn Frady, were killed in the crash. Police say they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the driver of the tractor-trailer was flown to Carolinas Medical Center Main by Med Center Air. Police say the driver’s identification and condition are being withheld so that out-of-state family can be notified.

Police have not said what led up to the crash and say the investigation is ongoing.
