PERRSYVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say they’ve recovered the body of a 16-year-old boy who’d been missing since trying to rescue a swimmer late last week.

The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office says the teen boy’s body was discovered Sunday afternoon after crews searched the area most of the weekend.

The boy and a 16-year-old girl were trying to help in a rescue Friday near the Pleasant Hill Dam where a group had been swimming. The sheriff’s office said the body of the 16-year-old girl was found about a mile away from the area Friday evening.

The teens’ names weren’t immediately released.

A ranger with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was able to rescue the 14-year-old girl who the teens tried to save.
