COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) - New York State Police say three out-of-state men have been charged one of them jumped from an interstate highway bridge spanning the Mohawk River.

Troopers say they received a report Sunday afternoon of a man about to jump off the Kosciuszko (kuh-SHOO’-skoh) Bridge, which carries Interstate 87 over the Mohawk 10 miles north of Albany.

Before troopers arrived, police say a 24-year-old man from Georgia jumped from the bridge and swam to the south side of the river in the Albany County town of Colonie (kah-luh-NEE’).

Troopers say he was uninjured and standing on the river bank with a 28-year-old man from Rhode Island and a 32-year-old man from Pennsylvania.

Police say the men thought the bridge would be a “cool” place to jump from.

Two of the men were sent to the county jail. The third was released.
