BRILEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been arrested after his wife’s body was found in the back seat of a burning vehicle in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

The Alpena News and WPBN-TV report the woman’s burned remains were discovered late Saturday in Montmorency County. Authorities say it appeared that the vehicle had been towed to the area and they followed a trail of road marks and auto parts to a home in Briley Township.

The man was asleep when he was found, but investigators say there was evidence of a recent domestic assault at the home. An autopsy was planned. No charges were announced over the weekend and names of those involved weren’t immediately released.
