WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A man who was driving the wrong way U.S. 13 and crashed into a car, killing a woman, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Twenty-two-year-old Garrett Cordrey of Newark pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in Superior Court on Monday in the death of 58-year-old Nancy Nelson of Denton, Maryland.

Prosecutors say on June 1, 2014, Cordrey was driving a pickup truck the wrong way on U.S. 13 in Bridgeville. Authorities say Cordrey struck Nelson’s SUV, spinning it across the road and into the path of a tractor-trailer.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (https://delonline.us/1JeHoVR ) that Cordrey must spend 24 hours in solitary confinement on the anniversary of the crash.
