DALLAS (AP) - Rains that swept through North Texas have caused flooding that closed some roads, seeped into homes and led to the collapse of a rural bridge under a truck carrying a family.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford says the bridge over the South Sulphur River collapsed Sunday afternoon as a truck carrying a family was crossing. A Good Samaritan threw the family a rope and they managed to climb to safety.

Bradford also said high-water rescues were reported in Caddo Mills in Hunt County.

National Weather Service meteorologist Ted Ryan says 3 to 6 inches of rain fell across the already-saturated area Sunday.

A Collin County official reported road closures and floodwaters that entered homes in the small town of Josephine.
