CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - A former Pella band teacher charged in Marion County with sexual exploitation by a school employee also has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Charles City girl in Floyd County.

The Mason City Globe Gazette ( ) reports that 31-year-old Benjamin Thompson faces three counts of sexual assault in Floyd County. Jail records say Thompson remained in custody Monday. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

Floyd County investigators say Thompson had a sexual relationship with the underage Charles City girl in 2011.

In Marion County Thompson faces three counts of sexual exploitation involving a student who graduated in 2014. Thompson no longer works as assistant band director at the Pella high school.
