CEDARTOWN, Ga. (AP) - A west Georgia teen has died after she and her infant son were hit by a falling tree limb.

LaRena Drayton was with her 1-year-old son Jeremiah Friday when a tree branch snapped and hit them at Peek Park in Cedartown. The boy is hospitalized with a fractured skull.

Drayton’s mother, Gina, tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the teen’s younger sister was with her and said she heard a cracking sound and called out for Drayton just before the limb fell.

Cedartown Parks and Recreation officials expressed condolences to Drayton’s family and said they’re investigating what caused the limb to snap.
