PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gas prices continue to rise in Rhode Island, to an average of $2.80 for a gallon of regular.

AAA Northeast says its weekly survey released Monday found that gas prices in the state had gone up an average of 2 cents per gallon from last week.

Prices in Rhode Island are now a penny more per gallon than the national average of $2.79.

AAA says last year at this time, Rhode Island’s gas prices were averaging about 33 percent more than today. Gas cost an average of $3.73 a year ago, 93 cents more per gallon.
