BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A member of the LSU Police force is in custody.

Louisiana State Police investigators Monday arrested 46-year-old Carrie Richardson-Heckard, of Denham Springs, for felony theft of $1,500. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail. It was unknown if she has an attorney. Bond information could not immediately be determined.

Richardson-Heckard is suspected of having stolen the money through her position as treasurer of the LSU Police Association from 2006 to 2014. An investigation began in January after an association audit discovered the misappropriation of more than $16,000 in funds between November 2007 and June 2010.

Sufficient evidence couldn’t link Richardson-Heckard to those missing funds but an additional unauthorized transaction - a $1,500 check issued to “Cash” written and endorsed by Richardson-Heckard - was discovered.
