PROVIDENCE, N.Y. (AP) - A 33-year-old man faces drunken driving charges after police say he crashed his all-terrain vehicle in upstate New York, killing his female passenger.

Authorities say Edward Wagner of Caroga Lake is charged with DWI, reckless driving and related charges after he crashed his ATV early Sunday morning in the town of Providence. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old Roxanne Opalka was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Wagner was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the ATV. Both were ejected from the vehicle and neither was wearing a helmet.

It’s unclear if Wagner has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
