AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Augusta Police issued 15 summonses to teens after police broke up an underage drinking party.

Police were called to a home on in Augusta after a report that a party was “getting out of control” early Saturday morning.

Deputy Chief Jared Mills says say the party was still going on when they arrived, but officers were able to stop several people trying to leave either on foot or by vehicle.

Officers detained them while and contacted their parents to make sure they returned home safely.

Two adults were arrested and charged.

Mills says police want to bring the incident to the public’s attention to remind them how dangerous underage drinking is.
