TOWN OF DEKORRA, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of a Lodi man and his 5-year-old son who drowned in the Wisconsin River.

The Columbia County sheriff’s office identifies the victims as 29-year-old Elliott McKenna and his son, Andrew.

The sheriff’s office got a call about 1 p.m. Friday that five people were in the river in the Town of Dekorra and yelling for help.

Sheriff Dennis Richards says they were on a sandbar that gave way.

Deputies rescued a woman and two other boys. Divers later found the 5-year-old boy about 4 p.m. He was pronounced dead at a Portage hospital. About two hours later they found the father, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
