SONORA, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California teenager has been charged with felony cruelty to animals after being caught on videotape killing a cat.

Sonora police said Monday 19-year-old Spencer Morse admitted to killing the animal at an apartment building the night of June 15.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1fv6vqL ) the building manager contacted police Friday to report the incident, saying a surveillance camera captured the killing.

Police say Morse said an unrelated cat had bitten him on the finger approximately a week earlier and that he had driven to the apartment building with the intent to harm a cat.

Authorities say the video shows Morse getting out the car, grabbing a cat by the tail, swinging it over his head and slamming it to the pavement, causing fatal injuries.
