PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Two suspected burglars who threw stolen items out during a police chase in Paradise Valley are in jail.

KPHO-TV in Phoenix reports (https://bit.ly/1JcWY4f) that 34-year-old Matthew Dean Johnson and 50-year-old Todd Stewart were arrested Saturday.

Police say the incident began when the two suspects allegedly got into the home through an unlocked door.

The homeowner was able to hide while calling police.

Authorities say the men fled in a car when officers arrived.

Officers say the suspects began tossing credit cards out the window as they drove away from them.

Police believe the cards were stolen during the burglary.

The suspects later fled on foot but then one was found in a storage shed. The other was found inside a home.

They say the suspects are acquaintances of the victim.
