YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials say a man was stabbed to death at a family gathering on the Yakama Indian Nation’s reservation.

Detective Sgt. Mike Russell of the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and tribal police arrived at the gathering in the White Swan area at about 5 p.m. Sunday and found attendees detaining the suspect.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Donald Edwards, of White Swan. Deputies arrested a 34-year-old man, also from White Swan, for investigation of first-degree murder. His name was not immediately released.

Russell says preliminary indications are that Edwards was stabbed in the chest without provocation.
