FREMONT, N.H. (AP) - A Fremont man who killed his girlfriend and himself last year left behind a note apologizing for the “mess” and saying he felt insecure in the relationship.

The attorney general’s office on Monday released its final investigative report on the October 2014 deaths of 52-year-old Mary Lucas and 51-year-old Michael Porter. She had been strangled in her home; he shot himself the next morning in his pickup truck after calling police to anonymously report Lucas’s death.

Authorities say Porter left his brother a note saying he had “lost it” and that he felt like Lucas had been using him for his money.
