FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) - Fullerton police have detained four people including a suspected gunman who opened fire on officers during a traffic stop.

Officer Francisco Sepulveda says when police pulled over an SUV early Monday a passenger jumped out and began shooting at officers while running away.

Officers returned fire. The gunman got away but was detained several hours later. He could face attempted murder and felony evading charges.

Sepulveda says it’s not known why the suspect opened fire. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Three others in the SUV were also detained and are being questioned by police.
