ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) - A head-on crash in Roseburg killed two people and sent another three to hospitals.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a pickup driven by a 25-year-old Kyle Augustine was heading east on Melrose Road late Monday when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an Oldsmobile driven by James Rammage.

Both vehicles went into a ditch. Rammage and his wife Diane died at the scene. Both Roseburg residents were 63.

Augustine was flown to a hospital in Eugene while his two passengers were treated at a Roseburg hospital and released.

Sheriff’s spokesman Dwes Hutson says there’s evidence Augustine had been drinking, and the crash is being treated as a criminal investigation.
