FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Department of Labor is looking into the death of a worker at a Fayetteville plant.

The Fayetteville Observer reports (https://bit.ly/1HcYyB1) the death occurred at the Purolator Filters plant.

Dale Wagner, director of human resources at the plant, said Tuesday that the female worker was a 39-year plant veteran who was ill and asked to be taken to the hospital. Wagner said the woman’s husband called the plant to say she died on Monday.

Wagner said plant officials are working with the state to determine if heat played a factor in the woman’s death,

Department spokeswoman Dolores Quesenberry confirmed an investigation in underway, saying there will be interviews with company officials and witnesses to look at policies that were in place and if they were being followed.
