CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Police say the body of a man who drowned Sunday has been recovered in the Kanawha River.

Media outlets report that authorities confirmed that the body of 29-year-old Christopher Thomas of Loudendale was found Tuesday just upriver from the Daniel Boone Park. Thomas was seen going under the water near the mouth of Campbells Creek on Sunday afternoon.

According to media reports, he rescued a young girl from the river before he went under.
