BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A driver has survived after her car plummeted four stories off of a Birmingham Children’s Hospital parking deck.

WIAT-TV (https://bit.ly/1e0LYt6 ) reports the accident happened Monday morning after the unidentified driver crashed through a barrier wall. Construction crews on the scene say pickup trucks below cushioned her fall. Authorities say had the vehicles not of been there, the outcome could have been much worse.

Authorities say because the driver was still wearing her seatbelt, she was able to escape from a back window with non-life threatening injuries.

Construction crews removed a piece of dangerous dangling cement and hauled the three damaged vehicles away.

A temporary wall is in place while crews prepare to make permanent repairs. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
