FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Livingston Police say a California Highway Patrol officer was attacked with a sharp object by a man who he then fired a shot at.

KFSN-TV reported (https://abc30.tv/1K9zux1 ) Tuesday that California Highway Patrol responded to a home after receiving several 911 several calls.

Officers found 24-year-old Raul Maldonaldo upstairs. According to a police report, Maldonaldo had attacked the officer with a sharp object, cutting his face and arms.

The officer fired a single shot at Maldonaldo, but the man continued to advance on officers. Officers fired their Tasers at Maldonaldo and then arrested him.

The patrol officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. Maldonaldo was also treated at the hospital before being taken into custody and charged with attempted homicide on a peace officer.
