JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of an Orange Grove man in the fatal shooting of his former step-grandfather in 2011.

Houston Lee Jones was convicted of murder in 2013 in the shooting death of 64-year-old Leo Landrum, with whom he was living. Jones was sentenced to life in prison.

Authorities say Landrum and Jones were arguing when Landrum was shot in the head.

Jones argued in his appeal that the evidence in the case didn’t support his conviction.

The Appeals Court says in Tuesday’s decision that the Jackson County jury had Jones’ confession plus other evidence sufficient to find Jones guilty.
