MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after an inmate died at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.

The McAlester News-Capital (https://bit.ly/1IbbTub ) reports 26-year-old Justin England was found hanging in his cell at 1:30 p.m. Monday. According to Department of Corrections spokeswoman Terri Watkins, England’s death is being investigated by the department’s Office of the Inspector General.

Watkins said England was serving two life sentences on 2014 convictions of assault and battery with intent to kill and endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance after former conviction of a felony.
