LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Lafayette woman faces between six and 20 years in prison after admitting to burning her 7-week-old son last year.

The (Lafayette) Journal and Courier (https://on.jconline.com/1N1Rw20 ) reports that 26-year-old Kristin Wesley pleaded guilty Monday to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. She’s scheduled to be sentenced July 27 in Tippecanoe County Superior Court 2.

Wesley denied that she knowingly burned her baby on June 20, 2014, and said she didn’t realize it until after the fact. But she admitted to taking more than the recommended dosage of a pain killer for which she had a prescription before her son was burned.

According to information presented during the hearing, the boy suffered second- and third-degree burns.
