BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a LSU police officer and former treasurer of a campus police association was arrested Monday and accused of stealing $1,500 through her position as treasurer.

Sgt. Nick Manale said in a news release that 46-year-old Carrie Richardson-Heckard, of Denham Springs, was booked on a count of felony theft.

Manale says troopers began an investigation in January after the LSU Police Association conducted an audit and discovered a misappropriation of more than $16,000 in funds between November 2007 and June 2010.

He says an examination of financial records did not produce sufficient evidence linking Richardson-Heckard to the entirety of the missing funds.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Richardson-Heckard.
