SEATTLE (AP) - A 24-year-old Kent man is facing charges after officials say he attacked another patient and a nurse at Bellevue’s Overlake Medical Center with a broken piece of Plexiglas.

The Seattle Times reports (https://is.gd/DknD1J) that the Kanvir Singh Grewal checked himself into the facility and was admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit.

King County prosecutors say Grewal pulled a fire alarm and broke a Plexiglas case for a fire extinguisher June 16. He then broke off a sharpened piece of Plexiglas and went into a patients room and began stabbing the sleeping 65-year-old in the back of the head.

Prosecutors say during the attack he also broke a nurse’s nose and attempted to strangle another patient.

Jail and court records show Grewal remains jailed in lieu of $500,000 bail.
