CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) - A man police say escaped from custody in Windsor, Vermont, has been captured in nearby Claremont, New Hampshire.

New Hampshire state police say Corey Briggs escaped Tuesday morning from a back window of the Windsor Police Department.

A description of Briggs and his mug shot was given to New Hampshire troopers, who began searching the Claremont-Cornish area.

Trooper Michael J. McLaughlin says he was searching a roadway in Claremont when he saw Briggs walking along it. He says he took Briggs into custody without incident.

Police say Briggs has been treated for a minor injury he suffered before being captured.

Briggs has been jailed pending arraignment. He can’t be reached for comment there.

Briggs is from Brownsville, Vermont. Police haven’t said why he was in custody in the first place.
