JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say several homes in the Jackson area were damaged by severe storms that moved across Michigan.

Jackson County Sheriff Steven Rand says his office responded to 75 calls for service on Monday night related to the storm. The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports (https://bit.ly/1Hb14Yh ) multiple roads were closed Tuesday in the wake of the storm, which downed trees and power lines.

Rand says at least four homes sustained extensive damage. He’s urging people to be careful around downed power lines and trees.

Winds from the storm tore the roof off Joan Jones’ home, where rafters were showing and insulation was scattered about what once was the floor. The basement - where she and her husband, David, took shelter - is now flooded with 2 feet of water.
