EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says a call to 911 about a “suspicious yard sale” led to the recovery of more than a dozen appliances that had been stolen from construction sites.

A man told authorities he became suspicious after visiting the yard sale near Everett and noticing a refrigerator with a cut water hose. The seller’s story about where the appliances came from seemed to change too.

Deputies arrived and found that the serial numbers on several items matched those of items stolen from construction sites in Bothell. Deputies recovered a dishwasher, three bathtubs, three shower kits, two fireplaces, six ranges and ovens, a microwave, a tankless water heater and a refrigerator. Some items have been returned to identified owners, while others are being held until they can be claimed.

Deputies questioned several people but didn’t make any arrests. The case remains under investigation.
