ADDIS, La. (AP) - A 1-year-old girl was electrocuted while playing with other children near the apartment complex where she lived.

Yancy Guerin, chief investigator with the West Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, said he believes Kristiana Tillman, of Addis, sustained the fatal injuries around 3 p.m. Monday when she touched exposed wires on an outdoor, uncovered air conditioning unit.

Guerin tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1eG2Je4 ) the ground was wet and the baby was barefooted when the incident occurred.

The child was found unresponsive in the yard next to the apartment complex.

Guerin said the child had burns on one of her hands. She was transported to the Ochsner Medical Complex in Plaquemine and then flown to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, where she was pronounced dead.
