SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Police say an oncoming train stopped short of hitting a woman who fainted and fell onto San Francisco train tracks.

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1eFIltt ) Tuesday that BART police Lt. Michael Hayes says the woman fainted about 9:45 p.m. Monday at the Powell Street Bay Area Rapid Transit station in downtown San Francisco.

Her name and age were not released Tuesday.

Police say the train was heading eastbound on the Dublin-Pleasanton line when it stopped short of hitting the woman.

It was not clear how the woman got back to the platform from the tracks below.

Hayes said the woman was transported to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately available Tuesday.
