BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police say a 29-year-old man turned himself in after he was accused of stealing his father’s identification to take out $69,000 in loans.

Cpl. Don Coppola, a police spokesman, said in a news release Gabadiah Jemar McClay was booked into Parish Prison Tuesday on counts of forgery and identity theft.

Coppola says McClay used his father’s identity in February to obtain an auto loan and personal loan, which amounted to $69,000. Coppola says McClay’s father told police he was unaware of his son’s activity.

Online jail records do list an attorney for McClay.
