BOSTON (AP) - The suspect in a pair of violent incidents on Cape Cod has been captured in Florida.

State police say 22-year-old William Benton, of Mashpee, was arrested Tuesday in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Police say Benton fired a gun at a man accompanied by a child during a dispute at a Hyannis beach in early May. Neither the man nor the child was struck.

Benton is also the suspect in an April 18 stabbing in Yarmouth. The 52-year-old victim was stabbed in the abdomen four times, but survived.

Benton is being held in Pinellas County Jail and could not be reached.

When he returns to Massachusetts, Benton faces a variety of charges including several counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and additional counts of aggravated assault.
