HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - An Olympic-style opening ceremony will be held at a youth soccer tournament featuring teams from 13 states at Marshall University.

The U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Championships begin Friday. The opening ceremony will take place Thursday afternoon at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The approximately 5,000 players from about 260 teams will first be seated in designated areas, then will parade onto the field.

A professional skydiving team will parachute into the stadium. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and state and regional soccer executives will address the crowd.

Marshall is providing housing for players and their families.
