SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) - Police in Springfield, Oregon, say they found a man with minor injuries at a house where officers had been asked to check on the welfare of a female resident.

The Register-Guard newspaper reported that police late Tuesday were waiting on a search warrant to enter the house.

Police have said they’re trying to find missing family members of the injured man.

Neighbors say a couple in their 60s live in the house and the injured man is their adult son.

Sgt. David Lewis said the man was treated at a hospital for injuries believed to be self-inflicted. He had not been arrested but Lewis said he was still with police late Tuesday.

Police went to the home Monday to check on the woman but Sgt. Rich Charboneau says no one answered. Officers left a note. He says that earlier Tuesday, a man called police to say if officers returned “there would be problems.” Officers went to the home and found the injured man.

Springfield is about 100 miles south of Portland.
