POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a worker has died after being hit by a car while unloading vehicles from a car hauler in Pompano Beach.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1K9ppP4) reports Ivan Figueras-Pino, of Miami, pulled over a tractor trailer to unload a vehicle Tuesday morning. Authorities say Figueras-Pino put his hazards on and lowered the ramp on the car hauler, which was stopped on the side of the northbound lanes of South Dixie Highway. A Broward Sheriff’s Office representative says Figueras-Pino was inside the back of the truck removing the chains from a car when an approaching driver failed to stop.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported Figueras-Pino to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver who hit him was treated for minor injuries and released.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
