SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (AP) - Orange County authorities say three people and a dog were killed when two cars collided in San Juan Capistrano.

Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock tells The Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1fJmdyp ) that the Ford Focus and Honda Accord were traveling in opposite directions and speed may have been a factor in the Thursday night crash.

Fire Capt. Steve Concialdi says two men in the Ford and a man driving the Honda died at the scene. A man and woman in the back seat of the Honda were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

A dog in the Honda also was killed.
