INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old from Indianapolis who died after being pulled from a body of water at a campground was being taught to swim by friends.

The Indianapolis Star (https://indy.st/1SPG8tO ) reports a teen identified as Anthony Moore Jr. was pulled from the water at Heartland Resort in Greenfield around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Greenfield Fire Chief Jim Roberts says he later died at a hospital.

Indiana conservation officials say friends were teaching Moore to swim at the campground. Police say he was in the water with his friends, and he went under the surface and didn’t come back up. His friends weren’t able to get him to safety.

According to police, Moore wasn’t wearing a lifejacket.
