SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - An electrical fire has displaced seven Springfield people from a two-family apartment building.

Dennis Leger, the executive aide to Springfield Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, says the fire ignited in the ceiling of a second-floor bathroom of the apartment Thursday night in the city’s Forest Park neighborhood.

No one was injured, but Leger says the blaze caused about $40,000 in damage. He says firefighters knocked the fire down quickly.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents and Leger says the first-floor family may be able to return as soon as Friday.
