BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) - The Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce is promising $10,000 to support efforts to bring regular commercial airlines to Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1BHr9O6) that the Chamber’s board on Thursday pledged the give the funds to the Mohave County Airport Authority, which is trying to secure a federal grant.

The board also is earmarking $30,000 for marketing to get the business community on board.

Chamber executive director Chris Barton says businesses considering relocating to the area are discouraged by the lack of regular passenger air service.

The Mohave County Airport Authority is applying for a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. But it also is seeking $500,000 in local pledges.

Those pledges would only be used if the grant is obtained.
