BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The death of a northwest North Dakota man whose body was found following a 911 call is under investigation.

The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/1FFY4hi ) reports that deputies with the Williams County Sheriff’s Office found the body of 44-year-old Douglas Whitson on Thursday in Williston.

Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of death was accidental. A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene, but no formal charges have been filed against him.

The newspaper reports Whitson was reportedly struck in the head with a blunt object, but no other information about the circumstances that led to his death has been released.

The body of the Williston man was transported to the North Dakota State Medical Examiner’s Office and an autopsy was done on Friday.
