CLAYTON, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in following a deputy-involved shooting in Clayton County.

Multiple news outlets report the incident happened Thursday night on Old Dixie Highway. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office say a deputy was involved in a shooting after a brief vehicle chase earlier in the evening.

The condition of the deputy and the person who was shot are not known at this time.

Officials say the investigation has been turned over the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The department says this is standard procedure for the sheriff’s office.
