GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court has declined to hear James John Rodgers’ appeal of his conviction and life sentence for a 2011 fatal shooting at a mobile home park in Gulfport.

Rodgers was convicted in Harrison County in 2013 in the death of Clinton Jackson.

Prosecutors say the shooting occurred during an argument over a picture Rodgers had taken with his cellphone.

Court records show Rodgers took a picture of a woman’s car parked in front of Jackson’s home, and sent it to several people. Jackson was upset because the picture showed his address and he didn’t want people to know where he lived.

Rodgers had argued the shooting was self-defense.

The state Court of Appeals upheld Rodgers’ conviction last year. The Supreme Court denied Rodgers’ petition Thursday.
