SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A judge has denied the appeal of a man sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for torturing and killing his ex-wife.

KREM-TV reports (https://is.gd/NJrH3S ) that court documents were filed Thursday with the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division III documenting Clay Starbuck’s appeal and it being denied.

Starbuck was convicted in 2013 of killing 42-year-old Chanin (sha’-nin) Starbuck in December 2011 and sexually violating her remains. She was the mother of five children.

Her body was discovered in her home on Dec. 3, 2011, posed in a sexually suggestive manner.

Starbuck’s appeal claimed there was never enough evidence to prove he killed Chanin or that she was sexually assaulted after her death.

Starbuck’s attorney says he will appeal again.
