MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Advertisements are coming to trash can lids in Muncie.

The (Muncie) Star Press (https://tspne.ws/1HkuIKW ) reports the Muncie Sanitary District approved a contract Thursday with a Michigan company that specializes in advertising on trash containers. Ads would go on thousands of rolling plastic trash cans in Muncie.

Officials say the ads will generate revenue, though sanitary district administrator Nikki Grigsby said she’d “rather not” say how much. She says the agreement has no cost for the district.

Sanitary district board members say they would be able to refuse ads from certain advertisers.
